The Loop is reporting that Apple will be holding a press conference this Friday, July 16th. Apple hasn’t said much other than that the conference would be regarding the iPhone 4.
So, the iPhone 4 is being accused of reception problems, and Apple just so happens to call a press conference regarding the iPhone? Well, I wonder whatever the subject could be?
Other than the obvious, unsaid focus of this press release (the iPhone 4’s reception issues), there is a more radical explanation. Verizon.
What better way to change the subject, than to pull the trigger on a Verizon deal? This is speculation on my part, and likely won’t happen, but it certainly would change the whole tone of Apple’s PR situation. Besides, to my knowledge, Apple has never called a press conference for any other reason than to introduce new products.
At bare minimum expect a recall, or free bumper cases, or coupons, or something come Friday.
