HardMac is reporting that the next-gen iMac and Mac Pro updates incorporating USB 3.0 and faster FireWire. The MacPro update is expected sometime near the “end of summer,” and the iMac update will follow a few weeks later.
On this occasion, Apple should inaugurate two great innovations, the arrival of USB 3.0 and a faster Firewire interface, 1600 or 3200. Thus, Firewire will not forgotten.
Of course, the Mac Pro is long overdue for a refresh, and the iMac is also getting pretty long in the tooth. Worth noting, the report suggests that Lightpeak (Intel’s new, fast, I/O connector) will not be incorporated in Apple’s desktops for another year, and just forget about Blu-Ray ever coming to the Mac.
