All the camera apps have the same flaw but since there is no alternate I'm stuck. The problem, they only save images as jpeg's. I know Apple only allows jpeg's to be written to the camera roll but that does not mean they can not write a tiff or png file to there own "lightbox" area.

The jpeg format is a very good compressed format when file size is most important. However it is a final format because it damages the image as it compresses it loosing data that will never come back. So you take the image and it has a bunch of data stripped out and jpeg artifacts added. Then you manipulate the image (damaging it further) then save it adding another round of jpeg damage.

So in the end I only use the photo manipulation apps for fun once in a while. I guess that is what most all people do and what they are intended for. Being a professional photographer though I see so much lost potential in my iPhone 4 which has a decent camera. I hate that it is so crippled by software.
