For basic word processing/spread sheets and presentations – you’re right, there’s nothing that sets Office and iWork apart. Truth be told for basic word processing there is NOTHING that sets Word, Pages and Text Pad apart – yup, Text Pad has all the functionality you need for basic word processing.

However, once you are beyond creating your own documents for your self to produce and someone else to view the final copy of – iWork is far behind. In the business world and publishing world Office makes a huge difference because of collaborative features and scripting for automation of complex tasks.
