Now that the iPhone 4 has been out for over a month, there are many cases out there to choose from. Manufacturers are pressed to create a way to make their cases stand out amongst the increasingly growing inventory. Add to that, Apple ‘s new iPhone 4 Case Program, which lets consumers who purchase an iPhone 4 through September 30th of this year pick from a select group of cases, and you can see why being a case maker in this climate is uniquely challenging. Enter MARWARE and their C.E.O. Premiere iPhone 4 premium leather case.
The C.E.O. Premiere is a quality leather hip case that is designed to be worn where it can be seen ”on your belt! I found it to be good at what it claims to do, which is to provide the consumer with a low profile case with a sturdy belt clip that is modest and tasteful.
It should be noted, however, that this case most likely will not serve you as well once you leave the confines of the office setting. I found that, like many belt clip hip cases I have used in the past, the C.E.O. Premiere iPhone case had a tendency to ride up my belt while I was putting it through the motions of a typical workday.
To be fair, though, I am extremely active in my line of work, and the circumstances I put the case through most likely will not be typical for the average consumer. I work as an Environmental Specialist in Watershed Management & Monitoring, and on any given day I could be found trekking through wetlands, following dirt paths to remote streams and creeks, and riding in boats on Lakes and intercoastal waterways that can often become rough and unsteady with little notice.
The Velcro closing mechanism provides a strong seal when lined up properly. However, I found that if I had the closure slightly misaligned it would sometimes pop open, often without me becoming aware of it right away. This caused me some anxiety, especially when my main reason for getting a case was to protect my brand new investment.
Having said that, MARWARE is quick to point out that the C.E.O. Premiere case is slim enough that it can easily fit in your pocket, briefcase, or purse for those instances where it isn ‘t practical to wear it on your hip. While that is probably true for briefcases and purses, I found that the clip makes it a little more cumbersome to work into your pocket if the need arises.
MARWARE describes the C.E.O. Premiere case as being made of genuine leather. I found the quality of the leather to be very high –it was soft yet sturdy and it felt good in your hand. The stitching on the perimeter of the case looks to be made with care. Clearly the attention to detail is one of the major focuses the manufacturer put into designing the case.
The everyday functionality of the case leaves me with mixed views. Two of the main things iPhone 4 owners might have to do with their phones at some point during the day are use their earphone headsets and charge their phone. Unfortunately, while there is access to the earphone jack, the 30 pin dock connector is obstructed by the leather support strip located on both sides of the case.
In closing, I found the C.E.O. Premiere iPhone 4 case by MARWARE to be a little pricey at 34.99. For me, this is partially due to the fact that Apple is giving away cases right now, and I think that the manufacturer could be doing a little more to provide the iPhone 4 owner incentive to invest in the idea of a premiere case.
