iOS and iPod Touch Event Coming Sometime in Mid-August?

MacMagazine is reporting that they have received information from someone “within Apple”, that the iPod music event Apple usually holds in September, will instead be held in mid-August this year.

The MacMagazine today received information from a reliable source within Apple about a new event to the press that the company was planning to soon. Although the schedule cite the source as somewhere around 14 and 16, we bet our chips on a Monday or Tuesday – that is, 16 or August 17.

The event would revolve around the new iPod touch we’ve been hearing so much about as of late, and the iOS 4 release for iPad. The report doesn’t mention it, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Apple would unveil updates to it’s other iPod models. The report also does not mention whether Apple will release these products at the time of the event or if it will be held until the traditional September timeframe.

The timeframe for this event also ties in nicely with a report we heard a few weeks back that claimed Apple was preparing to release iLife ’11 on August 17th with a new “mystery application.” This application, if it is released alongside the new iOS devices, could be used as a product tie-in.
