ITV Network Executives Are Reportedly "Furious" Over The Rumored Apple TV Name Change to 'iTV'

Mirror.co.uk is reporting that the executives at ITV, a television network in the UK, are “furious” regarding the rumors that Apple may be changing the name of Apple TV to “iTV” along with other major changes to the product later this year. Regardless of this being a rumor, it seems ITV is ready to fight if and when the time comes.

But ITV bosses are furious and meeting with lawyers this week to stop the move in the UK.

The broadcaster, who owns the trademark to the name ITV in Britain, will also weigh up its options on a global ban.

Proving that they are serious ITV throws the first punch in a war of words by stating:

A channel insider said: “You only have to look at recent problems with the iPhone 4 to see not everything Apple produces is gold dust. We all take our ITV brand very seriously and we’ll do everything in our power to protect it.”

Let’s get several things out of the way right now. They needn’t get too feisty just yet. It is just a rumor. Secondly, there is nothing wrong with the iPhone 4, dipshit. Thirdly, this is the precise reason John Gruber cites Apple for calling it Apple TV in the first place. That is, ITV was going to raise a stink about it back in 2006 when the product fist launched.
