Coming Soon: Terminology App for the iPhone

Terminology iPhone app

Terminology is a great new dictionary + thesaurus + lots more app that ‘s coming to the iPhone next week.  It was originally released as an iPad only app.  I reviewed that version recently, and was hugely impressed by it.

I ‘ve also had a sneak peek at the new iPhone version that will be released next week, and it looks great too.

History

Here ‘s a little more detail about the app:

After it’s release on July 13, 2010, Terminology stormed the iPad App charts, holding the #1 position in the Reference category for more than a week, and reaching #25 on the overall Top 100 Paid iPad App chart.

Terminology is a dictionary, thesaurus, research tool or just playground for those curious about words. It sets itself apart from other dictionary and thesaurus Apps in the iTunes App Store with its rich, readable interface and easy access to further research with the built-in browser.

The same rich interface that made it such a success on the iPad has now been brought to the iPhone and iPod Touch, bringing this convenient and easy to use reference tool to your pocket.

And its features:

  • Offline use. No network is required for browsing the built-in dictionary.
  • Definitions, synonyms, antonyms.
  • More and less specific words.
  • Returns to last application state on launch.
  • In-app web browser with quick links to look up terms at Wikipedia, Wiktionary and other sites.
  • Star favorite words for quick access.
  • History of terms browsed.
  • Retina graphics for iPhone 4.

I think this is an excellent app and a great reference tool to have on your iPhone.  It is due to hit the App Store on Monday (8/30) and will be priced at just $0.99 initially.

In the meantime, you can learn more on the app here:
