Quick Note: Ping Has One Million Users in First 48 Hours of Operation

Apple announced late last week that one million iTunes users have joined the Ping network within the first 48 hours of it being introduced. That one million users makes up 1/3 of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 so far.

“One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing.”

Ping, introduced as part of iTunes 10 at last Wednesday’s media event, aims to create a social network to help users discover new music and connect with their favorite artists.
