One Jailbreak Store to Rule Them All: Cydia acquires Rock

Now here’s something you don’t see every Saturday morning: Cydia has acquired Rock Your Phone, which means that there is now only one jailbreak store on the iPhone.

I, for one, really hope that Saurik takes advantage of his new purchase and allows Rock to become a more primary interface to the jailbreak world. However, based on the info on the Rock Your Phone homepage, it looks like all of the Rock licenses are being transferred to Cydia, and that all purchasing will be done through Cydia with a Google or Facebook account. Hmm.

I’m hoping this is just a temporary measure while they work a new system out, but we’ll see. Rock had a fantastic interface for showing you all of your purchased licenses and managing all of your installed apps and extensions, and I really don’t want to lose that in this merger.

But I don’t want to speculate too much either. I’ll wait to hear more from the primary parties (@saurik, @rockyourphoneco) before running my mouth off.
