Having recently returned to the role of frequent business traveler, I am naturally concerned with keeping my iPhone adequately powered while on the go. Between emails, working on documents, surfing, GPS navigating, and all of the other things that my iPhone is tasked with during my travels, I can eat through its battery pretty quickly. Sometimes, I need to know: If I finish watching this movie, will I have enough battery power left to make some calls and return some emails when I land? Battery Go! Plus attempts to answer questions just like this.
The main screen shows a general synopsis of your current battery state: Roughly how much time you have for each of several different categories of iPhone usage: 3G calls, browsing, watching video, listening to music, etc. Swiping left and right will bring up other screens that break down these major categories with more varied statistics. For example, the Video tab differentiates between battery life left for online video versus on-device video watching, while the gaming tab estimates how long you can play a "hardcore" game versus a casual one.
One minor issue concerns an API limitation in iOS that prevents the app from seeing the exact battery life left. While the app will come close, you may need to tell the app precisely how much battery life the iPhone is reporting you have left. I found this to be a minor issue in practice, as the figures are really more estimates than exact figures to begin with.
Battery Go! Plus is 99 cents in the App Store. A free lite version, with much less detail, is also available.
