Remember that epic Epic Citadel demo we posted on a while back? That was made with the Unreal Dev Kit and it showed things that I never thought I’d see on a current-gen mobile device (it even looked great on my 3GS). However, thanks to Apple’s change of stance on 3rd party tools and Epic’s announcement of iOS support in the UDK (via Joystiq), we could well be seeing actual games that look like Epic Citadel over the course of the next year.
I’m still doubtful that I’ll want to play any first person perspective games on a small, buttonless device, but I wouldn’t mind Unreal Engine capabilities being applied to RPG’s on the iPhone. I can’t even imagine what Chaos Rings could look like if it were powered by Unreal…
