It happens; you buy an app, you use it, for some reason decide that you don’t like, want, or need it, delete it, and then months down the road decide that you need an app just like it – but you can’t remember – did I buy that app, or a similar title? You can re-download previous app purchases for free, but you don’t want to make a mistake and buy the wrong title. So how can you determine if you have already purchased the app? Here’s a few quick tips.
CHECK YOUR INVOICES
Apple sends an invoice detailing all of your purchases to your registered email account. So, the easiest way to determine if you’ve bought it is to search your email.
ADD IT TO THE WISH LIST
One little known feature of iTunes is the Wish List (formerly the Shopping Cart in iTunes 8 and earlier). Simply find the app (or, really, any iTunes purchase), and instead of clicking the “BUY” button, click the drop-down arrow next to it, and choose “Add to Wish List”.
If you have already purchased the app/song/book, you will be told that you have already purchased the item.
Unfortunately, you cannot (yet?) do this on your iOS device – only in the desktop version of iTunes.
