I usually use Pastebot for throwing pictures from my iPhone to my Mac while at home, but since it’s a pain to log both my iPhone and my computer onto the wifi network at school, I’ve been using Dropbox for all of my iPhone -> Mac transfers. In other words, this big ol’ 1.3 update couldn’t have come at a better time.
One of the first things I noticed was the new 2×2 grid of colourful icons that function as the main screen of the app. As a direct result of this new grid, the tabs that used to sit along the bottom of the screen have been replaced by more shiny buttons. These changes have made the app look and feel cleaner, and I’m sure I’ll adjust to the tab-less design relatively quickly.
Another little thing I appreciate is the newly added file caching (explained in the screenshot) and the background upload and download capability. This should be a godsend for pictures and PDF’s and it’s actually something I’ve wanted from Pastebot for a little while now.
If you already have Dropbox installed, this universal update is available right now on the App Store. If you haven’t tried Dropbox yet, you can do so without paying a cent (2GB accounts are free!).
