It Was Bound To Happen, New Apple TV Already Jailbroken

You know how I was yammering on in the other articles that it was a matter of time before someone jailbroke the new Apple TV? Well, it’s happened. Once it was discovered that the new Apple TV could be mounted in iTunesthrough it’s Mini-USB port, jailbreaking of the device was bound to follow.

The jailbreak is entitled “SHAttered” and appears to be only the beginning stages of something much larger. That said, it’s still a long way off before we’ll be able to install apps on the new Apple TV, but it looks like work is already underway.

As many of you know, Jailbreaking is the term used to describe the process of reverse engineering software so that unauthorized modification can take place. Shortly after the introduction of the original iPhone, many developers got to work developing apps for the device a year in advice of Apple’s official introduction of the App Store.

This might just be the beginning of an App Store for the Apple TV, and as I’ve said before, the possibilities are endless. Video games, interactive media, news, all on your big screen TV.
