The Daily Mail – Arguably the UK’s most controversy filled newspaper — is launching an iPhone and iPod Touch app of their online newspaper website this coming Friday.

The subscription based app will be free for the initial 60 days after launch, after which you’ll have to purchase a plan: £4.99 for 183 days (6 months) or £8.99 for 365 days (one year), which is all quite reasonable compared to the Sun’s offering of £4.99 for their iPad app and a further £4.99 monthly subscription. But I am not sure the content is worth the money!

Just what will this newspaper app offer? Here’s a little slice from the horses mouth;

It’s got all the amazing breaking news, show business, gossip, glitzy pictures and fantastic sports stories that have made MailOnline a must-have part of millions of people’s lives.

One noteworthy feature for this upcoming app is the ability to sync ALL the content and pictures while you’re online via Wi-Fi or a 3G or Edge mobile phone signal, then read it at your leisure ANYWHERE and ANYTIME you want. Even when there’s no phone signal, such as on the Tube or on a plane.

If you can’t survive without your daily dose of gossip…‘Then this is the app you’ve been waiting for’.
