Reuters is reporting that Apple has delayed the release of the white iPhone 4 model once again. The device is now slated for a Spring 2011 release.
Apple Inc said on Tuesday that it would delay release of the white iPhone yet again, this time until next spring.
The company has had a difficult time making the white model of the iPhone 4. It released the black version of the smartphone in June.
An Apple spokesperson issued an apology from the company, but did not offer any additional details regarding the delay.
“We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again,” Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said. When asked why the white phone would again be delayed, Muller declined to comment.
You have to remember that the white iPhone 4 was announced alongside the black model, last June at WWDC 2010. Soon after the announcement, the white model was delayed until “late July.” It was delayed again to “later this year”, and now, of course, has been delayed until next spring.
No one knows for sure what the cause of the delay. Many believe it is due to color matching the parts, to make a uniformly white device. Others reports have suggested that Apple is working out the kinks in the device so that light will not leak out of the device’s seams.
If I had to guess, Apple is now purposefully holding the white model for the Verizon release coming at the beginning next year.
