Apple Pushes iOS 4.2 Golden Master to Developers

Apple yesterday released the Gold Master version of iOS 4.2 to developers. In case you were wondering why this is a big deal, a Gold Master build is usually the final build that will eventually released to the general public.

Ever since the iPod/music media event in September where Apple announced iOS 4.2 with a slated release timeframe of November, we’ve been patiently waiting for it’s release. The major new features in this update will be AirPlay, which allows users to wireless stream content to their new Apple TVs, and AirPrint which offers wireless printing from iOS devices. Lastly, this will be the first unification release, which is to say, that iOS 4 is finally coming to the iPad, bringing with it features such as folders and multitasking that we’ve grown accustomed to on the iPhone 4 and new iPod touches.

Apple appears to be on target for their November release timeframe, so expect the release any week now.
