AppleInsider is reporting on claims made by Ticonderaoga Securities analyst Brian White who suggests that Apple could be introducing a “Smart TV” as early as this year. White points to “data points” he found at an electronics trade show being held in China this week.
Here’s an excerpt:
“Our research suggests this Smart TV would go well beyond the miniature $99 second-generation Apple TV that the company released last fall and provide a full-blown TV product for consumers,” White said.
We’ve heard this from other analyst before. Some have even suggested that a hypothetical Apple HDTV would integrate into an as of yet unreleased iTunes subscription service. Noticing a patter? No evidence other than speculation. Apple executives, when asked at their quarterly conference calls, have disowned any notion that the company will enter the TV market. Is that a definite no? -Surly not, but it’s a darn good indicator.
