Samsung Fires Back Against Apple Patent Suit

Samsung-Logo.jpgAs you know, Apple filed a patent suit yesterday, against Samsung regarding that company’s “Galaxy” line of devices, and how they closely resemble Apple’s own devices both in form and function. Then, it was pointed out that Apple buys a large number of components from Samsung to build their iOS devices. So, this thing could get hairy.
Then came this quote from a anonymous Samsung official:

“Apple is one of our key buyers of semiconductors and display panels. However, we have no choice but respond strongly this time.”

The same questions I raised yesterday, I have to ask again today- Will this hurt Apple or Samsung? Will Samsung be able to hamstring iOS device production by taking away Apple’s components and using them, say, for themselves or other paying competitors? Or will that itself hurt Samsung, as they will have less money coming in due to cutting their second-biggest customer, Apple, loose? As of now, it looks as if only hot air is coming out of Samsung at the moment, but it does appear that Samsung believes it’s to their tactical advantage to ape Apple’s designs, even if they have to fight for it.

In other words, and you can call me simple, but I can’t see how you continue to do business with a company that you’re suing. Is that a normal business practice?

If you have answers, leave a comment! We’d love to hear what you’re thinking.
