
AppleInsider is reporting that Apple retail employees have received an email notifying them that they cannot ask for days off from May 20 to May 22nd. The report then turns to Gary Allen of ifoAppleStore, who reports that these dates fall in line with the company’s tenth anniversary of open the physical retail stores. Apple may do something during these dates to “attract a crowd”, but no word on what that might entail.
The first Apple retail stores were opened on May 19th, 2001. One is the Tyson Corner Mall location in McLean, Virginia. The other is at Glendale Galleria, in Glendale, California.
Vacation black out dates, are normally a pretty good indicator that something big is going to happen, seeing that Apple wants all hands on deck.
Needless to say, if it wasn’t for the Apple retail stores, Apple would not be in the position they’re in today. Although there isn’t an Apple retail store at my location, anytime I’ve been in one, whether it be in Chicago, Cincinnati, or St. Louis, they’re always uncomfortably packed with customers. From a business point of view, that’s a great problem to have.
