Twitterrific 4.1 (free or $4.99 to remove ads) has been a while coming, but it really looks like it was worth the wait. There are quite a number of changes to detail, so I’ll leave most of the talking up to the gigantic screenshot embedded above (click or tap for a larger version), but there are a few goodies that I really want to highlight.
Firstly, there’s the new Cloud App support for link shortening and media uploads. This rocks because Cloud App makes it so easy for me to tell how many people click (or don’t…sigh) on the links I share on Twitter.
Secondly, there’s the fact that Twitterrific is a universal app, so most of the goodies in this update apply to both the iPad and iPhone versions of the app. As a new iPad user I really appreciate this.
Then there’s the improved refresh rate. Twitterrific doesn’t support Twitter’s streaming API yet, but it will now auto-refresh every few minutes so long as the app is running, and switching between accounts should be a little faster than it was before.
The release notes also claim that the “jump to top” bug” (which broke the ability to tap on the status bar to zoom to the top of the list) has now been fixed. I haven’t had any problems with it so far, but I’ll make sure to update this post if it’s still around.
One last thing I wanted to mention is the removal of the single-tweet view, but I can’t for the life of me remember what that was or what it looked like. Any other Twitterrific fans able to chime in on this? Should I miss it?
