As the dust has settled around today’s iMac announcements, a few details have emerged.
There, is a change in Target Display Mode. For those unfamiliar, Target Display Mode allowed users to use their 27-inch iMac as a secondary screen to another Mac. Up until today this could be done via the Mini DisplayPort. This feature is still there, in today’s updates, but it requires a Thunderbolt equipped Mac to work. So that leaves either another new iMac, or the new Thunderbolt-equipped MacBook Pros to work.
On a similar vein, users can now connect two external displays to the 27-inch iMac, making for a grand total of three screens, and proving that Thunderbolt really is a flexible I/O.
Lastly, these new iMacs ship with BootCamp 3.2 (the utility that allows users to install and boot from Windows on their Mac). This new version handles a bug with Japanese and Korean character keyboards.
