Pulse: Volume One reminds me of that hit arcade game, Dance Dance Resvolution, except that jumping on your iPad with both feet will probably end in the sickening crunch of glass, rather than a higher score. However, the core gameplay is probably still quite similar: wait for the right moment in the rhythm and tap on-screen in time with the music.
The gameplay mechanic sounds pretty standard as far as these music-based rhythm games go, but what seems to set Pulse apart are the engaging techno visuals. They’re mesmerizing. In fact, the graphics remind me of a strangely playable version of the Zune box art.
However, if my descriptions thus far have failed to capture exactly why you’d want to throw down $4.99 for a copy of Pulse: Volume One, perhaps this video review I found on YouTube will do the trick:
