Patently Apple is reporting on a recently discovered patent application that outlines an iPod Nano, very similar in build to the current generation model, equipped with environmental sensors. These sensors could detect things such as sound, temperature, motion, and yes, even camera input. Then the device would take this information and display to the user a relevant screen saver.
An example given in the application is that of raindrops falling on downward, and the device would detect the orientation, and thus adjust the screensaver to show the drops always falling downward.

The application also hints (in the accompanying images) of an on board camera, and the ability to play games. Just recently a photo was uncovered claiming to show a next-gen iPod enclosure, with a hole to accommodate a camera.
