They opened up almost $10 Aug 21 on high volume pushing the shares within 50 cents of a key options strike of $675. Then like magic started dropping an hour and a half into trading (on no news) – thanks in part to 750,000 shares being sold around 11 AM. With a major announcement pending Sept 12 2012 (speculated to be a combo of news regarding the iPhone 5 / iPad mini / and maybe iPod) which is expected to be huge for the company, and earnings guidance for Q4 which should by all accounts smash records – I ask you WHY would there be a negative swing of 2.5%? The trading volume was double its normal size on the day. Either people know something the general public does not, or the price is being manipulated. Either way, the average investor is subject to (what I believe should be) the illegal practices that have become common place on Wall Street – but you already know this. Buy on a dip / pullback, and wait until the Jan 2013 earnings where I firnly believe the stock will be trading around $750. iPhone 5 and iPad mini are imminent, and possible are a stock split, iTV, dividend increase, additional revenue (global sales – China mobile, iTunes globalization and mobile payments – NFC). However the stock will remain volatile thanks to Hedge funds, the Options market, the FED and ECB announcements (or lack there of). In the meantime – buckle your seatbelts, it’s going ti be a bumpy ride. Good luck.
