Apple Sees ‘Soft’ Mac Sales Growth When Compared to Year-Ago Quarter

This time last year, Apple sow 38% year-pver-year growth, making this year’s 9% disappointing. In fact, market watchers were expecting Apple to ship 4.1-4.3 million Macs this quarter, which is up 22% from last year.

That said, we’re only a month into this quarter, and Apple could still see new growth with the new MacBook Pros having been on the market since February, and the introduction of new iMacs.

I have a feeling, and it’s nothing more than a feeling- I have no data to back it up, that the iPad 2 launch sucked some of the oxygen out of the Mac market. Add that to the unusually high sales Apple saw this time last year, and you can see why their might be a slump.
