A pair of reports have surfaced which seemingly confirm a minor hardware redesign for the upcoming next-generation iPhone. That is, the next-gen iPhone is widely expected to retain the same form-factor as the current iPhone 4, but these reports seem to suggest that the camera flash on the new iPhone will be moved from it’s current placement adjacent to the camera, to opposite side of the rear of the camera.

The first report is from GadgetsDNA, which points to a Chinese manufacturer case design, which shows the new placement of the camera. One could easily write this report off as rumor. But what happens when another report, from another source, on the same day emerges?

Well, Apple.Pro did just that, and posted a of photo, comparing the current camera components used in the iPhone 4, and components which they claim will be used in the next-generation iPhone. The main difference to be found, is that the rear camera to be used in the next-gen model, does not have an attached flash.
So it appears that the next-generation iPhone will have a relocated flash. This raises the question of why Apple might move it. Was it causing disruptions with the process of photo taking? Internal restructuring for new components? Who knows.
