@Tauseef
Good point – I did leave those out, but they’re also pretty well covered in most reviews.

I can’t comment on display mirroring because I don’t use the iPad for that, but I can say that I’ve comfortably watched a good 12 hours of Netflix on the device and have no complaints. I’ve also read two books in iBooks and tend to take the Smart Cover off to make the whole package lighter as I read. I also tend to turn the brightness down to near zero while reading, but maybe that’s just me.

@Chris

Thanks! Good luck with the writing, and DO give iA Writer a shot, even if it’s alongside Pages. You might want to use Pages as your general layout and to get an idea of how far you’ve come along, but Writer is by far my favourite way to write on the iPad (a huge part of it is the large, mono-spaced font)

@George
Cheers!

I’m using a TenOne Pogo Sketch now and then, and it’s not too shabby. I’m no expert on the stylii, though, unfortunately. I think I heard good thing about the Boxwave Styra ($33) in a review somewhere.

I’m expecting to receive my 32gb WiFi iPad2 on June 6. You indeed clear out most of my doubts. Any recommendation on a Capacitive Pen for note taking? Targus or AYL maybe?

Thanks

I have wanted one for a while and finally have gone ahead with buying one, I have £20 of apps ready, stylus, apple Bluetooth keyboard as I plan to write a book using pages and for other writing tasks. I have also brought s cheap case from amazon with a bag to boot, gone overkill I know.

I have used the iPad and can’t wait to get this, I think the iOS could improve by perhaps having up to 3 new screens (default 1) that you customise with widgets and live feeds etc like honeycomb. Fingers crossed for iOS 5.

Great article
Regards

Chris

Are you happy with 16Gb?
I had a 64 G 3G iPad 1 which my wife commandeered. Being reasonably sure there was going to be an iPad 2 shortly, I bought a used wifi only 16 Gig iPad to bridge the gap. I survived, but felt I was constantly cramped for memory (I like to keep several movies/tv shows on board for those unexpected times when you are stranded with no wifi connection. (which brings me to point 2)
Are you happy without 3G?
Big no here. I use my iPad at work in addition to my corporate provided laptop. We do not have open wifi here. I found myself needing a hotspot of some sort (tried both Clear and Virgin Mobile, both stunk). I not only use my ipad at work for occasional personal web browsing, but for email, syncing work documents (I keep notes in Note Taker HD and use email to synchronize them with Evernote). In addition to work stuff, many airports do not provide free wifi. I find myself getting directions, maps and other data on the road (not while I’m driving). Bitch and moan about AT&T if you will, my experience is that it has been much more reliable than the other options I mentioned. Plus I kept my “unlimited” data plan from my first iPad.
YMMV

Own a 3GS, traded in original iPad for an iPad 2 (32 GB WiFi). No regrets on WiFi only decision — pull out the iPhone if I need Net access if WiFi unavailable.

I do find that I’m using my home iMac much less since I’ve gotten an iPad. Not so in the office. However, I do a lot of business travel, and the iPad has replaced my MacBook on these trips..

One thing to add — use of the iPad by my children (ages 8 and 5). Our iPads (wife has one too) are now the primary entertainment system during long drives and long waits (e.g. in the waiting room at the pediatrician). Also found some really good educational apps.
