Just to prove how slow of a news day it is, a prototype of the original Apple TV, when it was still called iTV, has appeared for sale on eBay. It is listed for a month, and has a “Buy it Now” price of $350.
The photos on the listing show the Apple Development Team barcode sticker, while also listing manufacturers of the internals. The logo on top is just the Apple logo, minus the “tv” which was present on the production models.
The photos also revealed that the device had received software updates while it was in Apple’s custody. It is not running the native OS that the 2007 Apple TV shipped with. No doubt, this machine was used for testing for some time.
