MacStories is reporting on a tweet made by Eldar Murtazin, the editor-in-chief of of Mobile-Review, wherein he claims that iOS 5 will not run on the iPhone 3GS. That of course, means iOS 5 will only work on the iPhone 4, and the next-gen model whenever it becomes available.
If this turns out to be the case, this will be a much cleaner cut than Apple rolled out with in regards to iOS 4. When 4.0 debuted last June, it supported iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and of course, iPhone 4. As time moved forward, and Apple began pushing out 4.x updates, support dwindled for the iPhone 3G, until it was totally cut from updates with the introduction of iOS 4.3.
