Apple Adds Another Backlight Supplier to Help Alleviate iPad 2 Production Woes
DigiTimes is reporting that Apple has added another backlight supplier, Taiwan-based Coretronic, to help alleviate some of the production constraints facing Apple’s iPad 2 line. So, if you haven’t had a chance to get your hands on one yet, Apple’s working on it.
BusinessInsider Interviews Apple’s First CEO- Michael Scott
BusinessInsider has conducted an interview of Apple’s first CEO, Micael Scott, which is full of anecdotes from the first days of Apple. Scott specifically points out who did what in the early days. Woz worked on the circuitry, Jobs worked on the res, Scott ran the company aspects such as manufacturing. He also notes that Jobs was the talker, Woz was the quite one, and Jobs early on was solely focused on products, and couldn’t be bothered with people- something that would come back later to bite him. It’s an interesting read, and gives a glimpse into the early days of Apple.
Apple Issues Several Software Updates for Logic Pro/Express
Apple has issued software updates for both Logic Pro(9.1.4) and Logic Express(9.1.4) bringing support projects imported from Garageband for iPad. The updates themselves weigh in at 192.48MB and 138.74MB respectively, and address other minor issues. The release notes can be found here, and here.
iPhone 4 Finally Arriving in India This Friday
Apple will finally be launching the iPhone 4 in India. The device will debut on Bhati Airtel, and Aircel, both of which combined have a quarter of India’s network subscribers at 220 million customers. Both networks are GSM-based, so no CDMA iPhone 4 for India, yet.
This is obviously a huge market for Apple.
Apple PR Inviting UK Press to Attend WWDC
Electricpig.co.uk is reporting that Apple’s UK PR team is inviting UK-based journalists to attend the company’s upcoming World Wide Developers Conference, which is slated for june 6th-10th. They claim that it is “obvious” Apple will introduce a new iPhone at the conference. I wouldn’t be so sure.
Apple Faces New Suit That Claims Racial Discrimination in Broadway Apple Store.
Two African-American men, who walked into Apple’s Broadway Apple store to purchase headphones, claim they were approached by an Apple employee in an intimidating manner, and were asked to leave because of their race. Reportedly the Apple retail employee stated “And before you say I’m racially discriminating against you, let me stop you. I am discriminating against you. I don’t want ‘your kind’ hanging out in the store.”
Let’s get this out of the way, I abhor racism. I though this country was getting out of that shit when we elected President Obama. Nonetheless, giving both sides a fair shake, not to mention from a legal point of view, this really is one man’s word against another.
