iA Writer 1.3 for iPad: New Icons And Language-Specific Keyboards

iA Writer ($0.99), the favourite iPad writing app of many an Apple tablet owner, was updated to version 1.3 last night and has a brand spanking new icon to show for it. The new icon design is minimal, but also stands out a bit more on the home screen, thanks to the brighter colours. It has only been a couple of hours since the update, but I think I rather like the change.

Further down in the list of New Stuff is a set of new specialized keyboards for other languages because, strangely enough, there are other languages to write in aside from English. There’s no way to preview these keyboards in-app, but you can see screenshots of them in the App Store or view them one by one by changing your keyboard (Settings -> General -> Keyboard).

Finally, there are two minor changes to the spartan top bar of the app: tapping on the word/character count will now show “read time”, and tapping on the updated focus mode icon in the top-right corner will trigger an awesome animation and sound effect that makes Writer feel just a little bit like a Transformer (an Autobot, obviously).
