Check Out the Oona: a Multi-Purpose Smartphone Stand

The Oona Kickstarter project looks like it sucks. It looks like it sucks so much that it can keep up to 8 0z. worth of smartphone held in place while holding both the stand and smartphone combo on the surface of a whiteboard, windshield, or any other flat surface…by suction alone.

But the Oona doesn’t seem to suck in the colloquial sense – on the contrary, it looks pretty bloody awesome. It has the same metal finish that adorns so many Apple products and it has a variety of mounts so that you can quickly turn your desktop smartphone stand into a tripod mount or a windshield mount for your car.

Just be forewarned: the Oona isn’t meant to stay stuck in place for a whole day and while the picture above shows an iPhone 4, it would probably be a bad idea to try and stick a whole tablet onto this little stand.

That said, the stand still looks very sleek and useful and  you can pledge $25 (and $10 shipping if you’re Canadian, aaargh) to the Ooma on Kickstarter to make sure you get one after it launches. The project is already $90,000 over its target budget of $10,000, so chances are looking good that this little stand will actually be made and shipped.
