Patently Apple is reporting, as if there was any doubt remaining, that Apple is closing in on the “iCloud” name. Specifically, Apple has filed for the “iCloud” trademark in Europe. Apple, in on odd move, has announced that they are going to introduce iCloud, at their World Wide Developers Conference, which kicks off this Monday. The application was filed in Jamaica on December 7, 2010.

iCloud, of course, is Apple’s next-generation cloud-based offerings, which is widely expected to have a music storage/streaming component to it. At any rate, the trademark is still held by Xcerion in the U.S. and in Europe, the company Apple bought the name from. There were also reports that Apple had purchased the “iCloud.com” domain name as well.

Again, this news isn’t groundbreaking, but it confirms Apple’s movements. What do you think the iCloud service will do? What’s your wish list? We’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment!
