CNet is reporting that Apple may be in the process of securing deals with Movie and TV show producers to bring them into the fold, along with music content (agreements are reportedly in place with the Music labels) to their forthcoming iCloud content storage/streaming service.
Where negotiations seem to be stalling is in an area called the “HBO window”, wherein cable channels and studios such as NBC Universal, 20th Century Fox, and Warner Brothers are to halt sales and distribution of their content while it is aired on HBO. Apple reportedly isn’t thrilled with this idea, because they expect their users to be able to view their content at any time.
Studios such as Time Warner seem to be warming up to the idea, and would be willing to exempt Apple from the window. If those negotiations break down, Apple can always rely on Disney (which Steve Jobs has significant pull), Paramount, and Sony, all of which do not have an exclusivity window with HBO.
As for TV content, most of this is speculation at this point, but it would be difficult to see Apple implement one without the other. Besides, rumors of a cloud-based TV service have been floating around before.
