That Sly Fox: Mac Defender Variant Finds Its Way Around Apple’s Security Patch

Software_Update_icon.pngJust off the heels of Apple releasing a security patch to, what the media wants you to think is impending doom that is Mac Defender, a new variant has emerged that has already found a way around Apple’s fix. This new variant emerged within hours of Apple’s fix.

For what it’s worth, Apple will also be rolling out automatic daily updates of malware definition in the Software Update. This will allow Apple to quickly roll out fixes for new threats as they emerge.

No, I don’t think this is the beginning of the end of strong security on the Mac. I’ve said all of this before. However, consumer knowledge will go a long way to solve this problem- not just technical fixes.
