Apple Execs Think iOS’s Future Looks Good, Banking on Tablets

Screen shot 2011-03-11 at 2.02.57 AM.pngBusiness Insider is reporting that Bill Shope, an analyst for Goldman Sachs, met with Apple executives, specifically COO Tim Cook, SVP of Retail Ron Johnson, and CFO Peter Oppenheimer. According to Shope, all three thought the future of iOS looks great, especially in regards to the iPad. Tim Cook in fact stated that they expect tablet sales to surpass PC sales i the next few years.

The iPad holds the tablet market of course, but also of note, is that Apple is priding themselves on the “integrated” iOS ecosystem, as compared to “fragmented” market of, say, Android-based devices. Apple argues that the fragmentation may give Android a market share advantage at the moment, but ultimately will hurt the platform as a whole.

They also claim that they better support their developers, paying out of $2 billion for App Store developers so far.
