Cat and Mouse: Apple Responds to New ‘Mac Defender’ Variant with Malware Definitions

Software_Update_icon.pngAs you know, Apple just released a security patch to combat the “Mac Defender” malware going around. No sooner than they did that, a new variant of Mac Defender found it’s way around Apple’s fix. Well, reports are surfacing that Apple is moving just as fast, and have issued new Malware updates to fight the new variant.

This latest update from Apple, now warns users who are preparing to download any variant, including the latest, of Mac Defender. Also alongside the security patch that was issued earlier this week, comes nightly Malware definitions from Apple, to better protect their users.

Although this is a serious situation, it shows that Apple can move very quickly when they need to. I have a feeling they’re going to be on top of this until it goes away. Or at least as much as possible.
