OS X Lion Never Forgets with Auto-Save, Versioning, and Resume

The newest version of Mac OS X, Lion, will remember the state that you left apps in, auto-save your files for you, and even allow you to re-visit older versions of said files. The first two are clearly adaptations of iOS features (you never have to press “Save” in Notes on your iPhone), but the last is an evolution of an idea already established with Time Machine. The three of these concepts together mean that working with a Mac should be a lot more of a care-free experience. After all, your physical desktop looks the same when you come back to it in the morning, so why shouldn’t your digital desktop look the same after a reboot?

As a final note, it has occurred to us today that OS X Lion could probably have been called OS X Elephant based on the way that it never forgets, but elephants don’t seem quite as majestic as Lions (sorry, Babar)…and they’re also not cats.
