Hints of Future iPad and iPhone Hardware Found in iOS 5

liosfive.jpgTo absolutely no one’s surprise, Apple is working on future iPad and iPhone hardware. That’s what’s been found by TUAW at least in the iOS 5 firmware. Specifically, they found mentions to two future iPad 3 models and two future iPhone 5 models. As with Apple usual naming scheme, they are named “iPad3,1” and “iPad3,2” and for iPhone they’re “iPhone4,1” and “iPhone4,2”. The iPhone naming scheme is staggered because, technically, the iPhone 3G was “iPhone1,1”.

The report goes on to mention that there are no hints at new iPod touch hardware baked into the firmware. Yet. This is an early build at this point. Also, this, to my mind, indicates that Apple may simply sell the same iPod touch model, as this year’s model again this fall.
