iBooks Now Has a ‘Read Aloud’ Feature

ibooksreadaloud.jpgApple has released a new version of iBooks, version 1.3, which adds several new features, most notably the ability to read children’s books aloud. Other features include, better responsiveness, autoplay of embedded audio and video, and a fix for an issue wherein some pages are displayed twice.

Apple spins the new “read aloud” feature as such:

“Help your children learn to read with the new read-aloud feature included in select children’s books from the iBookstore. The read-aloud feature uses a real narrator to read the book to you, and in some books, it will even highlight the words as you read along.”

To me, this shows that Apple is pushing hard for books on their devices. Or at least making it look that way, to spur more interest in the feature.
