Lodsys-Held Patent Now Under Attack

apples-app-store-icon-o.jpgFOSS Patents is reporting that Lodsys, the jerks picking on the small indie developers, with a patent suit threat for using in-app purchases and links to upgrades, are now coming under attack themselves. Specifically, a Michigan firm, ForeSee Results, has called for a declaratory judgement in regards to the validity of Lodsys’ claims. This doesn’t derail Lodsys outright, but it does set things up for future challenges.

Ok, now this get’s technical, but here I go. The firm filled in Illinois, and any future suits filed by the firm could be transferred there, instead of patent-holder districts such as a district in Texas, where Lodsys originally filed the suit. The firm’s actions also do not directly include App Store developers, but the challenge could help prop up the indie developers.
