Reports are surfacing claiming that the UK will not get iTunes in the Cloud until 2012 due to music licensing agreements. Specifically, they claim that it won’t come the UK until “at least” Q1 of 2012, according to the Performing Rights Society (which represents songwriters and the like in the UK).
The report goes on say that negotiations are early, and a long way off from a deal. Furthermore, a music label executive for UK says that “no one expects to see the cloud music service live on this side of the pond until 2012.”
The report goes in further and quotes the VP of Forrester Research said the UK Music labels are waiting to see if this works out over hear in the States, before making the plunge themselves. It would also be safe to assume that iTunes in the Cloud won’t make to other international audiences until sometime next year.
