The iPod — oh, excuse me, Music app — on iOS 5 seems to be almost 99% similar to its iOS 4 iteration so far, except for two cool little details:
- tapping and holding on song titles now displays the entire song name in a temporary pop-up.
- song titles will also now scroll on their own on the Now Playing screen (the iPod app used to simply show an ellipsis for long titles)
These is a very obscure additions to the app, but they also struck me as the only ways to read the complete titles of Sufjan Stevens songs (as shown above). I believe these details are also an example of Apple’s dedication to their new approach to iOS 5: it’s turning into a full-fledged operating system that runs on smartphones and tablets, and not just a mobile OS.
