@ChronicWire has posted via Twitter several screenshots that seem confirm, what we all had a feeling was coming- Nuance technologies are indeed baked into iOS . These screenshots claim to be that of the latest internal iOS builds.
Of course, we heard a lot of noise regarding the Nuance-Apple deal leading up to WWDC, where many of us expected to hear an announcement regarding Nuance’s text-to-speech, and speech recognition technologies coming to iOS. No such announcement was made. Subsequent reports claimed that bigwigs from Nuance were at last week’s WWDC keynote, but no announcements were made because a deal wasn’t in place yet.
It’s also worth noting that Nuance’s technologies have been found in builds of Mac OS X Lion as well. It would seem that Apple is making a push, but they just can’t seem to come to a full agreement with Nuance at the moment. Which, really isn’t surprising considering that both Apple and Nuance have a reputation for being hard-headed negotiators.
