Trickle Just Doesn’t Seem Right for Facebook

Trickle for Twitter was my pick of the week last week, but I neglected to mention its twin: Trickle for Facebook.

However, now that I’ve spent a bit more time with the app, I’m not sure that the Trickle concept of one text status at a time really works for Facebook. My friends post plenty of text-only status updates, but a lot of them also enjoy posting pictures right on people’s walls, and Trickle displays none of these photos – it only links to them – and having to tap on the screen to check out a single picture in a browser seems to go against the whole idea of the app.

I realize that Trickle is supposed to be a very passive thing, but without proper photo support, I simply don’t see the point of using it for viewing a social network where pictures are posted so frequently. Plain Text and hyperlinks may work just fine for Twitter, but I think Facebook is a different beast and should not have been given the same treatment in a separate Trickle app.
