Quick Look: Galapagos App for iPhone

GalapagosApp

Galapagos is a simple iPhone app that offers up some beautiful photo of animals found in the Galapagos Islands and lets you create ecard style emails with them. It’s the creation of photographer and intrepid world traveler Susanna Kubernus, and it’s a charming little app.

There aren’t any major bells and whistles in the app, but I like its simple purpose. I’ve got an 8 year old daughter who is absolutely crazy about animals of all types – so this a great app for both of us. For me, it will be cool to send her email cards with (hopefully) funny text to accompany them, and for her I’m sure it will be great fun to send lots of cards out to her family and friends showing off these apparently very photogenic animals.

Card

The app includes 32 photos and 11 backgrounds to customize the cards with – and you can add your own captions and personal message when creating cards.

One thing I would like to see added to the app is some background text along with each photo to give a little background on which animal it is and perhaps about how the shot was taken.

CuteSeal

Kubernus has plans to donate 10% of the app’s sales to a charity supporting Galapagos animals.

Though this is far from a ‘wow factor’ sort of app, I think it’s quite a nice idea and I enjoy the photos in it a lot.

Here’s an App Store link for Galapagos; it’s priced at $1.99.
