The release of Mac OS X Lion is not far off at all now. I’ve been occasionally playing with developer preview builds of Lion, and liking it a lot even while still finding it a little awkward to get used to some of its changes.
One thing I’ve been very encouraged by is the way apps compatibility has come along over recent weeks. The best list I’ve come across for tracking this is this App Compatibility Table from Roaring Apps: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table/tags/_a/index_tags/_a
When I first looked at the list a few months back there were hardly any of my 20+ most used-apps that showed a green check mark to show that an app has been tested and ‘works a-okay’. This week when I checked the list I found that very nearly all my staple apps have got the lovely green check mark.
Earlier this week Evernote was the one major app I use that didn’t yet have a check mark. I just took a peek again this morning and now it does. Hurray for that. The bad news when I looked in this morning is that the status for Parallels Desktop (latest version) has changed from a-okay to ‘tested and has some problems’.
I hope the number of tested / working well apps will continue to increase in the next few weeks; and I’ll be doing some more testing of my own as well. I’m very keen to upgrade to Lion, but the one thing that would slow me down is if I find that there are essential apps that aren’t yet stable.
Have you been looking at the app compatibility table or a similar list? If so, how are things looking for your favorite apps?
