Team Fortress 2, one of the best multiplayer first-person shooters of the last five years, has gone Free To Play. So if you like blowing things up into bite-sized chunks and spamming the E button to yell “MEDIIIIC!”, all you need to do now is download the free Steam client and nab Team Fortress 2 from the Steam Store.
Unlike many other Free to Play titles, TF2 is quite generous. New players will have full access to all of the classes and maps, as well as the ability to unlock extra weapons in much the same way that paying players have been doing for years now. However, players who just want to get specific items can speed things up by exchanging Real Cash Money for Instant Gratification in the form of hats, weapon unlocks, and other goofy items. Players who spend any amount of cash on the game will also benefit from a Premium Account.
As for system specs, that really varies from Mac to Mac, but I do know that I could get decent frames from my 2009 13” MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM – so if your hardware matches or tops my machine, you should have a blast with TF2.
